Reema (Reema@ptfinalexam.com) has gifted us with an easy way to distinguish between the symptoms of ‘hyper’ and ‘hypo’ glycemia. Generally speaking, hyperglycemic patients exhibit drunken behavior i.e. dry, parched mouth, extreme thirst, frequent urination, general weakness, fruity breath, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain and deep, rapid breathing.
On the other hand, hypoglycemic patients present with symptoms similar to the withdrawal symptoms experienced by patients going through a detoxification programme i.e. sweating, rapid pulse, shakiness, dizziness, weakness, decreased coordination, difficulty concentrating, blurred vision, headache and trouble performing routine tasks.
Note: The descriptions above are for educational purposes only. Symptoms can vary from person to person and episode to episode.
